The
1879 Meacham Atlas
discussed elsewhere on this site contains a "Patrons' Directory"
covering
Big Carriboo Island on pages 91-92. Presumably these were people
who paid in advance for copies of the Atlas. The Post Office
address of each man is given as Pictou. With two exceptions noted
below, the "nativity" of each man was Nova Scotia. Next to each
man there is a "date of settlement," which at least in some cases is
actually the man's year of birth.
