BIG CARRIBOO ISLAND CENSUS DATA
Census takers appear to have
visited Caribou Island in the following years: 1817, 1827, 1838,
1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901,
and 1911. I cannot find any evidence of surviving 1827
census records covering Pictou County, however. Moreover, the
1851 census
page which likely covers the island is blotted out by a dark stain of
some kind (at least on the microfilm copy), making all entries
illegible. The links
below will take you to abstracted census data and actual census images
for the
years shown. I have also included the list of Carriboo Island
residents who are shown as "patrons" in the 1879 Meacham Atlas.
